SMART. EASY. COOL.

HYDROCHILL®

Southwest Greens of Eastern Washington is proud to supply and install turf that saves Kennewick families and businesses time and money —giving you the ability to concentrate on the things that really matter. With our advanced HydroChill® cooling technology, we’ve combatted summertime heat in a smart and simple way. A basic add-on to the turf’s infill creates a typical cooling range of 30-50 degrees and works automatically when hydrated by irrigation, rainfall, and dew.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

EVAPORATIVE COOLING TECHNOLOGY

Perspiration is a natural cause of thermoregulation called evaporative cooling. Evaporation of wetness from the skin’s surface has a cooling effect. Similarly, HydroChill® has proven to cool artificial green surfaces through the same process. As the turf surface warms up with solar radiation, water stored in the HydroChill® turf is released. Evaporating water removes heat, leaving behind a cooler, more pleasant green for the players.

  • HydroChill® utilizes moisture to provide a cooling effect. Rainfall, dew, and irrigation will help keep your lawn cool for days, depending on local conditions.
  • HydroChill® can be integrated into almost any Southwest Greens' infilled lawn systems.
  • HydroChill® will not alter the stability or warranty of Southwest Greens’ products.
  • HydroChill® is UV-resistant and should be re-treated every two years for the best efficiency.

WHEN IS IT MOST EFFECTIVE?

Ambient temperature outside does not completely determine surface temperature. Many elements determine an object’s surface temperature, such as cloud cover, wind, the sun’s angle, and other elements.

HydroChill® offers maximum benefit when the sun is nearest the Earth, as illustrated in the solar radiation calendar. During the summer season in Kennewick, the sun rests high in the sky, causing surfaces to absorb more energy, resulting in warmer temperatures. The Earth’s rotation is also responsible for hourly variations in light thus making HydroChill® most efficient during the hotter part of a clear day when it’s most necessary.
